Psalm 118:13 -
I was pushed hard,so that I was falling, but the
Lord helped me.
So often we feel the pressures of the world crashing down upon us. Death invites itself into our families and loved ones are taken, cancer strikes, jobs are lost, addictions are made known. There are so many worldly pressures we have to deal with as a result of our sin.
In these circumstances comes one of my favorite phrases, "But God." God has intervened and His Son is on the thrown. In the midst of pressure and turmoil, trust in the Lord. He is my refuge and my strength, His steadfast love endures forever. Be strong Brothers and Sisters. Run the race with endurance and lean not on your own understanding.
My dear Brother Chad Beck recently posted a note concerning Philippians 3:13.
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead..."
Going forward in Christ involves struggle. Paul says we are "straining" forward. Although this life and its pressures are heavy, let us not forget that Christ has relieved us of the greatest burdens. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Let us find rest for our souls in Him.
