A Believers Repentance

2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

Charles Spurgeon wrote that:
"Genuine, spiritual mourning for sin is the work of the Spirit of God. Repentance is too choice a flower to grow in nature’s garden. Pearls grow naturally in oysters, but penitence never shows itself in sinners except divine grace works it in them. If thou hast one particle of real hatred for sin, God must have given it thee, for human nature’s thorns never produced a single fig. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh."

Why is it that we are willing to stomp out and repent of the outward sins in our lives but rarely think of the inward sins? Will not the 2 foot rattle snake kill just the same as the 6 foot?

Lord, thank You for your marvelous grace and the presence of Your Spirit that reveals my own sinful nature. I confess that the hatred I have for my own sin comes only by Your power and that left alone in my flesh I would love my sin unto the point of death.

Equip our fellowship by the mercies of God to be repentant saints called according to His great purposes. Lord, may we do Your will and may we know Your Words that we might not sin against You.
