Democratic Christianity

It’s election time and I’ve been thinking. I believe America has a big problem and it’s not in any potential candidate. Our problem is what I like to call our Democratic Christianity. We are a people that believe strongly in human rights, our rights, entitlement to whatever we choose. Even our religion.

Churches today (not church as in the body of Christ, but church as in a building where religious events and activities are held) have taken Christianity and turned it into a political spectacle. We’ve taken God and made Him president. Problem with that…He’s a King. God is not an elected official that answers to our concerns and demands. He is not dependent on checks and balances. He rules.

Preachers and Deacons have become congressmen that do nothing more than have meetings and cater to special interests (the big tithers), while the people suffer from an economy in recession in need of revival.

Repent and worship God. Quit worshiping yourselves, your buildings and ministries. Turn away from your religious Christianity and serve the one true living God.

Revelation 4:11

“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
To receive glory and honor and power,
For You created all things,
And by Your will they were created
And have their being.” (NIV)

How many times can I say Amen?! I was just thinking today about our Americanized Jesus (once again) and how many people want a "Christian Nation".

The fact is, they want a country like the Israel of old and that is not what the Lord Jesus came to establish. He did not come to establish groups of protesting protestants or boycotting baptists. What He came to establish was His church, His bride.

Americans focus more on attacking the products of sin than they do fighting the root of sin itself. Instead of evangelizing let's "send 1 million signatures to Washington". Instead of evangelizing let's "never eat at that restaurant" until they decide to come over to our way of thinking. Instead of evangelizing let's never watch movies by "that" company until they start doing what we want them to do. Instead of evangelizing let's never listen to "that music" because it's not "Christian" music.

The problem is SIN! Not tattooed, body pierced, baby aborting drug addicts. They are what they are because of sin and nothing more.

Have we forgotten that Christ commissioned us to evangelize and make disciples, not legislate morality?

Are not many of the worlds major "religions" not calling for us (Christians) to unite with them on the common ground of morality? Do not Catholics denounce abortion and do not Muslims stone the adulterer? Yet he root of the problem is not abortion or adultery it is the fact that they are apart from Christ and are at enmity with God.

Let us not not legislate the gospel, let us preach it.

Until He Returns,

AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN>>>>>>>>and Again....

If we were busier discipling INSTEAD of trying to re-write law books and get the lesser of 2 elected....Maybe we wouldn't need so many earthly laws.

The law won't make the unsaved, saved, just because we force them to stop doing the "bad" stuff. But if they come into a relationship with Jesus and grow in him, they won't need the state of Alabama to tell them to stop the "bad" stuff...

Now it has gone to the point where the people that want a "Christian" nation have started sending me slanderous bold-face lies about the "other" candidate via email. It what point do his wrongs make those lies right???

In a lot of churches the puplit has turned into the board rooom.....God help us all!

Glad I found your blog again, keep up the good work. We love you guys...
