Speechless

The sovereign Word is no longer enough. The beauty of a holy God reconciling wicked sinners unto Himself by the death of His own Son is apparently boring. The God I once hated I now love because His word teaches me how to have great sex and get ahead in life???!!!????!!!????

The push to make the Word relevant never ceases to amaze me.

For those who read this.... Don't get Aligned, get saved!

Have you read any of this? Where did you see this?

Disclaimer: Please know that I am not in love with this publication.

I wouldn't have given it a second look until I read this post because the cover and anything I could find did not say anything about loving God because His word teaches me how to have great sex, nor did it make me think that. I had to purchase it to see for myself if the claims that are made were actually what this publication is about because if that is what this pushes or promotes I was appalled. I just couldn't believe Nelson publishing would have put something like this out. So I purchased it and read it. Upon reading it, it was as I thought, Getting aligned, centering your priorities is about a relationship with Christ and aligning yourself with Him and His Word and that be your biggest priority. Also, as I thought, Sexcess-success with the opposite sex isn't about having great sex, its about God honoring relationships with the opposite sex. Getting ahead in life isn't about monetary success, its about living a Godly life.
Like I said in the disclaimer I am not in love with this publication, but I am not appalled like I would be if it promoted great sex and monetary possessions over Christ Jesus. Is it something I would recommend to fellow believers? Probably not.

dear unnecessarily contentious,

what was the point? is this simply a mental exercise or is there some real substance that in my naivete i have overlooked?

the cover of the magazine could absolutely be the cover of any men's magazine in a supermarket... why? somebody had the notion that if the Gospel was going to be appealing, we needed to wrap it first in shiny paper! is that so? i thought the drawing light of the Gospel was to be our lives, and not 'slick' marketing quips... i may be wrong in my interpretation of Matthew 5, but i think not...

i digress, but i hope to lay to rest this fruitless discussion with the desire that we may grow in to some sort of forum where really redemptive issues are considered...

Not trying to be contentious,

The point is, is that the claims about this magazine being about having great sex is false. I thought it was important to point that out. I'm not arguing with my post, I am simply presenting what the magazine actually does and does not say.

Sorry that bothers you.

I'll delete my comments, since they do because my intent is not to bother or offend anyone, my intent was point out truth, I'll leave this up until this afternoon and it will be gone too.

please don't remove your previous posts...i was actually just chiding you to get you to perhaps illuminate the reality that every 'good' idea is not a godly one... and we absolutely don't need anything other than the WORD and the love of GOD in our hearts in order to draw folks to Christ... all that other stuff is unnecessary waste of time and resource.. lets pray and demonstrate the Gospel in ways that are really substantive and have some real bearing on the millions who have yet to come to know Him.

it is a genuine shame that the Gospel today, as illustrated on the cover of this magazine, has become more of a tool for getting what 'we' want... rather than means by which we give GOD what 'He' wants... its a hustle.. that's all i was trying to say..

i apologize for any hurt feelings over my smart alec tendencies but in all honesty no harm was intended..

I won't delete, I just didn't want to offend, cause thats not what I was trying to do or want to do.

I don't think this is the greatest of publications. I tried to make that clear in my previous comment. Again, I just wanted to point out what it actually says and doesn't say. I thought it was necessary to do that, maybe not...anyway.

I do think God can use it even though it is riddled with things other than His word. I, however wouldn't use it as a "tool". The only reason I have it, is because I wanted to be informed about what exactly it was/is. I think the more substantive ways besides preaching the word, are acting on His Word, i.e. clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, etc. I think thats how we proclaim a Kingdom to come; by preaching His Word, and doing the things it proclaims that Kingdom to come will be like.
